IMPORTANT: Limited slots available. We accept bookings on a first pay, first serve basis. We need 10 participants for this event, otherwise the event will not take place. In case we don't have 10 participants all paid sums will be refunded.
Doi Inthanon National Park is located in northern Thailand near Chiang Mai and is home to the country’s highest mountain.
Mae Wang National Park lies southwest of Chiang Mai and is known for its quieter, less-developed landscapes with forests, rivers, and trails that feel more remote and natural.
Both national parks are 'littered' with waterfalls, some of them deep in the Thai rainforest.
We will spend one day in Doi Inthanon National Park and head for the highest point before returning back to Chiang Mai.
Three other days are reserved for the Mae Wang National Park exploration where we will meet Karen hill-tribes in their small villages. We will get to know their culture, food and hospitality.
One thing all hikes have in common: several waterfalls along the way.
Four days we will have hikes before noon as well as in the afternoon but the distances and difficulty levels will make this event definitely suited for less experienced hikers as well.
For this event, we will hike as a group.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Thailand, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Thailand at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.
