The hike to Gunung Nuang via Pangsoon does not require many words to describe it. It is something that has to be experienced...

A moderate uphill, known as the never ending road, brings us at the foot of the mountain. From there on it is a relentless climb to Lolo and Kem Pacat, followed by the treacherous stretch to Puncak Pengasih, the false peak. A short downhill with quite some boulders brings us to the last uphill section that leads to the summit.

Not every hiker will have the required stamina and fitness to reach the summit of Gunung Nuang, so in order to make sure no hiker will get in distress because of a lack of fitness, there will be a cut-off time at Kem Pacat at 10:00am. If you are unable to reach Kem Pacat before 10:00am, Gunung Nuang is out of your league (for now). In that case don't proceed further uphill.

The mandatory cut-off time at the summit will be at 12:30pm.

Be prepared for steep inclinations characterised with a few stream crossings.

With around 20 kilometres as a total distance, this is certainly a hike that will not only test your legs but also your mental strength. Don't underestimate the hike and don't overestimate yourself.

Carpooling is highly recommended as there is not much space at the trailhead to park cars.

---> We will perform a check of the mandatory items before the event starts. For your own safety, if you do not have the mandatory items in your possession, we will not allow you to hike. <---

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, [Maps.me,](http://maps.me,/) OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

Although there will be guides, this still remains a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

For more details and procedure, read the Knowledge Base.

Also the explanation of the rating can be found in the Knowledge Base sub General - How to understand the rating system...?

It is compulsory that you respect the SOPs in place.

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to hike due to dangerous weather or other conditions (eg heavy rain, flood, landslide, health measures...) - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
