Waterfalls remain spectacular, and Tanglir Waterfall is certainly no exception.

Due to car park issues near the trailhead, we start the hike from Bukit Tinggi, crossing the village and Sungai Tanglir on the north side of the Karak Expressway.

Once we reach the pine trees of Villa Indah, the trail goes uphill. It is rather gently uphill, with a few fierce inclines along the way. We almost constantly hear the rapids and cascades of Sungai Tanglir, streaming down from Genting Highlands while you can enjoy the views of the forests at the Janda Baik side.

We head first for the Chinese and Indian temples, north of the waterfall, passing a refreshing 'shower'. We have to cross a few minor streams before reaching the temple area and taking off the shoes might be necessary.

After that we trek back, first to the Upper Fall and after that to the impressive Lower Fall.

This hike will be around 12.5 kilometres in total. We start with a tarred road section through Kampung Bukit Tinggi and once we reach the trailhead, it will be partially damaged tarred as well as gravel road. Only the short trails to reach the waterfalls itself will be in the jungle.

We follow the same way in and out, so there is no possibility to take a shortcut, but of course you can turn back any time you like (or need to).

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, [Maps.me,](http://maps.me,/) OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file at the trailhead and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.

By 02:00 pm the last hikers should have reached the car park again.

Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts. The QR code for the gpx file can be scanned at the trailhead from 08:15 am onwards. You can start your hike at any time between 08:15 am and 09:00 am. Before or latest by 09:00 am the last participant should have started the hike.
