This is our last chance to hike in a permanent Forest Reserve this year as they will be closed for the monsoon season.
It is exactly nine years ago since we hiked to Lubuk Kawah Falls with KLH.
The Lubuk Kawah waterfalls, located in Kuala Kubu Bharu, close to the Selangor part of Tanjung Malim are a set of 'smaller' waterfalls at the confluence of Sungai Lubuk Kawah and Sungai Perah.
Although the hike is neither difficult nor too long, the waterfalls are not very popular among hikers for unknown reasons.
There is quite some variation in the trail and most of the time we hear the fast flowing water of the streams that feed Sungai Bernam.
We have to deal with a minor and a major stream crossing, and are getting rewarded in the form of some nice waterfalls and great pools to swim.
We hike the same way in and out, good for about 11 kilometres in total.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use OSMAnd or Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub General Info.
Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that there are hikers who arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.
This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file via WhatsApp on Saturday and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.
By 02:00 pm all hikers should have reached the car park again.
Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts.
Online registration opens at 08:00 am, so you can start your hike at any time between 08:00 am and 09:00 am.
