Email and MS Teams from an information architecture perspective

Details

The context in which organisations are managing email and other types of message has evolved rapidly over the course of the last few years:

We are seeing:

  • the diversification and expansion of messaging channels
  • the rise of MS Teams (which is primarily a messaging tool) and its move into the document management and collaboration space
  • the embedding of email systems within cloud suites, and a consequent breaking down of the barriers between email systems and other applications
  • the use by machine learning within cloud suites such as Microsoft 365 of communication patterns noticed in email and other messaging systems to inform search results ranking and recommendations.

This talk explores what strategies towards email will best enable information professionals to make a positive contribution to how messages are managed, protected and exploited as a knowledge resource.
