Going virtual with Taxonomy Boot Camp London

This is a very different talk from what might have been if we'd been asked in 2019. The call for papers for TBCL 2020 was sent out early last year, just as worrying news about the novel coronavirus was emerging.

The Boot Camp has been running since 2016 (and its US sister event for over a decade). The last year has been unlike any other. Hear how we adapted to changing circumstances to create an online version of our friendly and intensive conference.

We’ll also talk about the wider landscape of virtual events, and the learning curve facing all event organisers. Participants will be able to share their own experiences of online events.

Helen Lippell is a taxonomy consultant, and programme chair of Taxonomy Boot Camp London. Her clients have included Electronic Arts, Pearson, the BBC, gov.uk and the Metropolitan Police.

Kat Allen is European Business Development Director for Information Today. Previously she was Event Director for a range of information industry events including Online Information, the Library & Information Show, and EPublishing Forum.
