đ¶ Philosophy Walk: Why do humans search for meaning in life?
Details
Let's try something a little different!
In August, I thought it would be nice to take advantage of the warmer weather (hopefully!) and combine a philosophical discussion with a relaxing walk. Hamburg's weather is famously unpredictable, which is why I don't organize this type of event very oftenâbut let's make the most of the sunshine while we can.
This won't be a structured debate with prepared questions. And this format is experimental, so success is no guarantee! We'll have one broad topic to inspire conversation:
Why do humans search for meaning in life?
Whether you approach it from philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, religion, or your own personal experiences, feel free to take the discussion in any direction. The goal is simply to enjoy an open conversation while walking together.
### Meeting Point
đ Nur Hier â Esplanade
Colonnaden 51, 20354 Hamburg (in front of the cafe, not inside).
We'll meet at 2:45 PM and wait until 3:00 PM (maximum 3:05 PM) before heading together to Planten un Blomen near Dammtor.
If you're running late or can no longer attend, please send me a private message through the Meetup chat so we know whether to wait for you.
This is meant to be a relaxed, stress-free afternoon, so don't worry about having the "right" answersâjust bring your curiosity and enjoy the walk!
### Plan B â
If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll simply stay at Nur Hier and have our discussion there instead, just like our usual Meetup events.
Either way, the conversation goes on!
> Event Rules
> To ensure a meaningful and respectful experience, here are the guidelines:
> Focus on the Group's Nature: Questions must be philosophical, spiritual, or mysterious. Avoid controversial or divisive topics like geopolitics, current wars, or political debates. We also ask participants not to repeat topics already discussed in past events.
> Respectful Interaction: Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but rudeness, interrupting others, or dismissive comments will not be tolerated. Letâs keep this a safe and welcoming space for discussion.
> Stay On-Topic: When discussing a cardâs prompt, please avoid going off on tangents or unrelated topics. The timer is set to 10 minutes for each question to keep conversations productive and engaging.
> Raise Your Hand: To maintain order and give everyone a fair chance to speak, participants must raise their hand before contributing to the discussion.
> This event is all about curiosity, exploration, and respect. Bring your best ideas, an open mind, and a willingness to engage in meaningful conversations. We look forward to hearing your unique perspectives and making this new format a memorable experience for everyone!
