Creating the Knowledge Management Model for the 21st Century

Models have been used for millennia to depict our world and how we humans act within it. The next KM Meetup will discuss the KM Model and what part technology and information play and what part human insight and understanding play in the world. Knowledge Management does not have a defined career series in the Federal Government. We have to describe what we do that is separate from information and content management. Ms. Cynthia Hilsinger will show the evolution of KM models and how they describe what we do. The models chronicle the growth of KM and its impact in working environment. She will present her new KM model for the attendees’ consideration and feedback. Be part of the conversation that impacts the KM model for the 21st Century.

SPEAKER BIO: Ms. Cynthia Hilsinger is a speaker, practitioner, instructor, and champion for Knowledge Management in the federal government. She has extensive experience working for the Department of Defense across all military branches. She is a true "purple suiter," having earned degrees from both the Naval War College and the Air Command and Staff College. Ms. Hilsinger currently serves as the Chief Knowledge Officer for Headquarters Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant for Information and Knowledge Management, in the Pentagon.
As Chief Knowledge Officer the Army Office of the Surgeon General, she played a critical role in implementing Knowledge Management Principles to foster collaboration across the "whole of government."
Hilsinger authored a White Paper requesting that the Office of Personnel Management develop a career series in knowledge management. Ms. Hilsinger also authored a White Paper for the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence titled, Knowledge Management and AI: A Response to COVID-19. Ms. Hilsinger continues to spearhead the important effort to establish an occupational career series for knowledge management.
