SANDI BLAIR-Vocal Musician and Instructor
With the smoothness of "Sarah", the articulation of "Carmen", the playfulness of "Ella" and the spontaneity of "Betty", the "Jazz Diva" lives on in Sandi Blair, a native of Brooklyn, New York, and a performer since childhood.According to Michael Bourne, host of "Singers Unlimited", WBGO-FM, "Sandi's sound...is upbeat, refreshing, and comes right from the tradition...good songs, good chops, and swinging".
Sandi holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance (concentrated in Jazz) from New York University. In 1993 Sandi with her band Real Magic won the $10,000 grand prize in the Cognac-Hennessey "Best of New York Jazz" competition and, in that same year, produced her debut CD entitled "No More Blues". Sandi’s subsequent independently released CDs: "You Make Me Smile" and "Japan – My Way" display a versatility possessed only by a seasoned vocal musician. Sandi's most recent release, "I AM" is her debut into the new genre, Jazz/Gospel.
