Koenji Cinema Club Vol. 4
Details
Join the Koenji Cinema Club at The Den for a unique and unexpected independent or world cinema film in English or with English subtitles which is usually hard to watch on a big screen in Japan.
Our 4th edition will be held on Friday, December 12th at 7PM for an indie Korean film about a quiet, melancholic drift through modern city life, where small choices reveal the cost of survival and the tenderness we cling to in spite of it all.
We'd like to make the emphasis more on the event experience rather than the movie itself, encouraging everyone to attend the film without learning too much about it beforehand in order to go in somewhat blind and unbiased, placing more significance on the pre-screening mingling and post-screening discussion with other audience members over a beer or soft drink.
So come on down, sip on craft beer, and mingle with fellow film enthusiasts as we delve into the artistry, creativity, and unique perspectives of movies that are often difficult to watch in Japan.
Whether you are a seasoned cinephile or simply looking to broaden your cinematic horizons, this is a chance to explore films in a welcoming and laid-back atmosphere.
Curtains: 7:00 PM
Start: 7:30 PM
Discussion: 9:30-11:30 PM
Address: 4-25-8 Koenjiminami 2/3F. The Den is located 2 minutes from Koenji Station (JR Chuo/Sobu line). Take the south exit, cross the street, and it's on the right side of the small alley, which is on the other side of the PAL 'shotengai' shopping street.
Tickets: 1,500 yen advanced event ticket + 1 drink order at the venue.
Your booking is under your name/email. Check in on the 2nd floor, mingle for a bit, then we move upstairs for the screening, then afterward head back down for a post-film discussion. If you’d like to just watch the film and sneak out afterward, that’s alright too!
Due to the limited space, we ask that you reserve your event ticket in advance on Meet Up or via the Book Tickets link on Instagram. Follow us on Instagram @koenji.cinema for updates and more.
We expect 30 guests, despite the number of attendees who sign up on Meetup which I cap pretty quickly, so book fast!
