Talks

1) Custom Plugin Development with Kong Gateway

Kong plugins are the real muscle behind the Kong ecosystem, giving you the power to implement API gateway policies in a plug and play fashion. In this session, we will deep dive into the Kong plugin architecture, basics around plugin development, testing, and automated delivery. You will have the opportunity to learn about different plugin phases during an API request, unit testing, and installation of a plugin in Kong Gateway. We’ll show a live demo on how to develop a custom plugin in Lua and deploy it to Kong Gateway.

2) Kong Custom Plugins to Serve the Needs of RBI

After adoption of Kong in RBI group, our teams moved to the next level of maturity and implemented several custom plugins to ensure consistency of end to end API calls, pushing metrics to local systems, providing more details about errors, etc. We would like to share our experience and road blocks we faced during implementation and roll out.

3) Building a Multi-Cluster & Multi-Cloud Service Mesh with Kuma

In today's dynamic and distributed computing landscape, orchestrating and managing services across multiple clusters and clouds has become a complex challenge. This meetup session delves into the powerful solution of using Kuma to build a multi-cluster and multi-cloud service mesh. Kuma, an open-source service mesh built on top of Envoy, offers a unified and scalable approach to seamlessly connect, secure, and observe services across different environments.

This talk will explore the key benefits of adopting Kuma for multi-cluster and multi-cloud scenarios. We'll delve into its architecture, highlighting its ability to abstract away the underlying infrastructure complexity while providing advanced traffic management, security, and observability features. A Real-world use case will illustrate how REWE leverages Kuma to simplify cross-cluster communication, enhance application resilience, and enforce consistent security policies.
