Mt. Konocti Scenic Tour!

Details

Sailing vessel Taitano is presently booked each Saturday of April on races and fishing tournaments. We do have many weekdays and some Sundays open on and after April 16th. Come sail with us. Learn a little about how to sail and enjoy the water with only the sound of the wind and waves!

April Specials!

  • $30 per adult (Mixed Group - sailing with strangers)
  • $40 per adult (Private Group - boat carries only your family & friends)
  • $10 per child under 100 lbs (Children are booked for Private groups only since Mixed groups of adults and strangers don't always blend well; They're always welcome aboard otherwise.); $20 youth fare for passengers above 100 lbs. through age 18 sailing with a parent or guardian.
  • Come join us for a lunch and afternoon cruise of no particular time limit. We usually sail 2 to 4 hours, depending upon passenger tolerance.
  • Sailing date and time are tentative and depend upon weather, but any cancellations by skipper are 100% refundable.
  • Sometimes the wind doesn't cooperate and we end up doing more motor-sailing than pure sailing. Where so, we give a refund or invite you to come sail again free.
  • $10 deposit by PayPal to schedule.
  • Route is typically from the Buckingham Peninsula to Konocti Harbor, Frasier Point, and back. Depending upon winds and conditions, we often sail on other courses. Horseshoe Bay is one of our favorite sights. Come view the volcanic vents with our underwater camera! Enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife. We keep a pair of binoculars aboard for sharing.

Clothing -- Soft-soled shoes are best (Dock shoes, tennis shoes, slippers). Layered clothing is nicest. For example, shorts underneath, overpants of some form if cold, shirt, jacket liner, jacket shell, sun hat, ski cap, and gloves give you many options to strip down or layer up for comfort. By warmth of day you may want to wear shorts. As the sun falls, putting on warmer clothing really helps keep the ride enjoyable. Where forgetting, going below deck for shelter helps. We do keep some loaner clothing and blankets aboard.

Seating -- At this time, we are limiting groups to 4 passengers per outing due to their comfort. The cockpit can seat 6 and the salon has a table for 4 passengers.

Life Vests -- Are provided for all passengers and required worn when on the cockpit or deck unless the passenger is uncomfortable. Where uncomfortable, vests are only required where water and wind conditions worsen. Vests are not required below deck.

Dining -- Bring whatever you like for lunch.

Alcohol -- Though we do not provide and serve alcohol, it is allowed brought aboard for Private dining cruises (where all passengers already know each other). Please limit drinking to standard CA DUI limits or 1-2 glasses max for the average passenger. Our alcohol policy is to ensure passenger sobriety and safety, and also so that non-drinking passengers unfamiliar with your group aren't unhappy with their outing because drinking can make some passengers obnoxious. Coworkers, friends, family drinking together are welcome. No alcohol is allowed if the passengers are strangers (Mixed groups).

Smoking/ Vaping -- Allowed in the cockpit only where all passengers are in agreement. Smoking is allowed under vessel motion, but not allowed when docked, near the fuel tank, refueling, and this is to prevent any fuel vapor ignition risks.

Radios -- Not allowed due to overall passenger comfort and safety. Music isn't appreciated by all passengers. Crew needs to instruct alert passengers at times to keep clear of swinging booms or shift weight to opposite sides of the boat. We also teach passengers to sail and can't do that well with music blaring.

Dogs -- If we have a suitable life vest for them, dogs can sometimes be carried by prior arrangement and all passenger agreement.

Elderly & Disabled / Special Needs -- We frequently carry passengers with mobility limits and other special needs if they are ambulatory enough to board the boat and be seated. We can usually work around their limitations -- wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, mental impairments. This is best with Private group passengers who already know each other, however. Often, it takes a little more time, energy, patience, and disruption of other passenger enjoyment....so we book you as a Private group.

Additional Sailing -- We offer weekday discounts to returning passengers! Even free sailing lessons for a limited number of race crew and deck hand trainees yearly.
