Dig cats? Like, really dig them? HIGHLY acclaimed special exhibition about the history of cats at the LA Natural History Museum !

WHY THIS? Because your Kook-Krazy-Cat-Lady host had 15 plastic cat figurines on her recent birthday cake, that's why. This is a hands-on, immersive experience that brings you face-to-face with the world of CATS! From sabertooths to your cat at home, explore their unique behaviors, evolution, biology, and deep connection with humans.

$30 total (includes general admission)

The Fierce! exhibition making its West Coast debut highlights the beauty, diversity, and predatory skills of felines, and illuminates the importance of protecting the world’s wild cats and their habitats.

BACK TO CATS :-)

Your Duchess-of-Kookdom host is a bonafide crazy cat lady and this is a bonafide Kook Out).

Blaze, our driver from Grave Line Tours' Black Dahlia Tour spoke SO incredibly HIGHLY of this exhibition that I just knew we needed to make it into a Kooky Adventure.

OKAY, the TAXIDERMY ETHICS:
The Fierce! exhibit has A CRUD-TON of taxidermy (approx 70 specimens)
I called the NHMLA and they said many specimens are borrowed from the Natural History Museum in France. I did some research and both France and USA have the following ethical standards when acquiring specimens for all exhibits:

APPROVED BY NHMs:

✅ Pre-law specimens (many years ago before animal protection laws were in place. Trophy hunting, etc.)
✅ Natural causes (roadkill, flew into window, old age, etc)
✅ Wildlife rescue facility losses
✅ Exotic pets that are confiscated must be euthanized, hence these are valid acquisitions (my heart hurts; I did not know this about confiscated exotic wildlife trade)
✅ Animal shelter euthanasia cases

Sad, yes....

... but Kook Outs are not only about fun, meeting new people, experiencing life VIBRANTLY and diving deeper into the unique, but we blend the Whimsical with Practical. Idealism with The Reality. Carefree with Responsibility, Love with Self-Healthful Boundaries.

Busting out of comfort zones, nourishing our intellect, expanding of view of All That Is., Practicing Self-Care (you'll be awarded with a rad Kooky Self Care Sticker every time you set a boundary or self care), and meeting likeminded people!

This is gonna be WAY better than 15 plastic cat figurines on a Costco birthday cake, people. RSVP "yes" right meow. 🐱
