🇰🇷Korean Cinema Club: International Special Edition🇮🇩

This November 13th, Korean Cinema Club is hosting a very special screening!

We're welcoming Dihan, an Indonesian filmmaker and writer-director of SUAR, to Seoul for an exclusive screening of his short film, followed by a live Q&A with the director himself!

We'll be pairing SUAR with MILK (2018), an award-winning Korean short film shot entirely in Thailand with a local Thai cast, to explore how filmmakers from different cultural backgrounds tell stories about human connection, social inequality, everyday pressures, and empathy.

Join our small group of Korean and international film lovers for an intimate evening of cinema and meaningful conversation!

🎞️ Films of the Night

🇮🇩 SUAR (2026) — Indonesia
Director: Dihanindra Satria Pinandhita
Selected for the Non-Competition segment of Jakarta World Cinema 2026.
SUAR tells a story about the pressures people carry in their everyday lives and how those pressures can sometimes be passed on to others.
Partly inspired by the director's own seven years of experience working in customer service, the film explores how a small act of empathy can interrupt a cycle of frustration and mistreatment.

🇰🇷 MILK (2018) — South Korea
Director: Jang Yu-jin
Winner of Best Short Film at the 2019 Blue Dragon Film Awards. MILK was filmed entirely on location in Thailand, featuring a local Thai cast.
Sai is a housekeeper working at a resort in Phuket, Thailand. A young mother struggling financially, she encounters another young mother from a wealthy family who is staying at the resort as a guest.
Through this encounter between two women from vastly different socioeconomic backgrounds, the film explores class, inequality, motherhood, and the human experiences that connect and divide us.

🎤 Meet the Filmmaker
Dihan will be joining us in person for a special post-screening Q&A!
This is your chance to hear directly from the filmmaker about the inspiration behind his film, his creative process, and the stories he hopes to tell.
We'll also discuss both films together, sharing perspectives from our different cultures and personal experiences.
No film expertise needed — just curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to share your thoughts!
