About us
Welcome to Koreans Next Door! ๐ ๐ฐ๐ท
Moving to a new country is an exciting adventure, but it can also be a lonely journey. This group was started by a group of friends from Sigwang Church who deeply resonate with that feeling.
Many of us have lived, studied, or traveled abroad ourselves. We know what itโs like to not feel home in a foreign land: to feel like we donโt quite belong.
We also havenโt forgotten how it feels to be welcomed. The world of a difference it makes to have hospitable neighbors who walk alongside you. We want to be those neighbors to each other.
Our mission is simple: we want to walk alongside you so we can all feel at home in a foreign land.
A Community of Neighbors
We aren't a formal organization or a tour agency. We are just a group of locals from church who believe that hospitality is the best way to turn an unfamiliar city into a familiar home.
What We Do Together
We are still figuring it out as we go and are open to suggestions. But here are some events weโve done so far so you can get an idea of what you can expect:
๐ฅข Cultural Exchange: Seollal Tteokguk party where we made dumplings together and played Yut Nori.
โฐ๏ธ Nature & Adventure: We went on a night hike to Gwanaksan!
๐ฃ๏ธ Language Exchange: We hosted a couple of language exchange events and played group games.
โ Casual Hangouts: Grabbed coffee, food, and had good conversations!
Our Roots & Values
While our core members are from Sigwang Church, please note that our events are not religious. Our goal is simply to love our neighbors who are far from home. People of all faiths, backgrounds, and walks of life are warmly welcomed. No hidden agendas!
Come as a guest, stay as a neighbor.
We canโt wait to meet you!
