Kotlin Budapest Meetup - June

Details

The time has come to finally return to our beloved HQ and meet you all there at the FIRST OFFLINE Kotlin Budapest Meetup of the year!

Speaker & talk details:

  • Eamonn Boyle & Garth Gilmour - Instil
Title: KotlinJS - A Pragmatic Analysis
Abstract: It can't be denied that Kotlin for JavaScript is an exciting prospect. Not only is Kotlin one of the best languages available today, but the benefits of using the same language over your full stack are compelling. But what is it really like developing with KotlinJS? In this talk we'll give a breakdown of using KotlinJS to develop a frontend app using React. We'll explore some of the pros and cons of KotlinJS, review the development experience and compare it to the most popular JavaScript alternative, TypeScript.

  • Márton Braun - Stream
Title: Krate ft. Moshi - A library design case study
Abstract: Krate is a SharedPreferences wrapper library based on Kotlin’s delegates. This talk takes you on a journey where you’ll learn how the new Moshi-based addon for the library was implemented. We’ll touch on type erasure and reflection, testing, debugging, and various advanced Kotlin features along the way.

General info:

  • The safety of our community is still our top priority, therefore we'll limit the attendee number to 30 people, and we will ask for an immunity certificate upon entry - thank you for your understanding!
  • The Instil talk will be streamed live in the HQ
  • Márton Braun will be there personally
  • Videos of the event will be uploaded to our Kotliners YouTube channel after the event
  • All talks will be in English as usual
  • Doors open at 6.30 pm, and we'll start the talks at 7 pm. After the talks, we can stay to chat.

P.S.:
We are looking for more teams/people to share their experience around Kotlin, so if you would like to speak at the next event, please contact us via this form (https://bit.ly/3nv5VfK), at the event.
