Abstract:

Quarkus has a lot of capabilities for local development, including the recently released Dev Services that simplify the running and configuration of databases, queues, mock APIs and others that are required during development and testing.

In this talk and live coding session I will show how to develop a REST API service and a client with the help of WireMock, Quarkus and
Testcontainers. We will then evolve the service to use gRPC and the WireMock gRPC extension to mock protobuf responses. We will go through live development of the services, prototyping APIs and mocking data. Along the way we will see how Quarkus provides a seamless developer experience.
