Description: Software development in a small SaaS startup comes with its own set of challenges. You need to reconcile several seemingly incompatible goals: We want fast, agile development. The result must be high-quality so that we don't accumulate technical debt. Requirements are constantly changing. We must be ready to scale the system. We can't afford to rewrite things. Every design mistake hurts. And everything needs to be done as cheaply as possible. Is that even possible? Where should we compromise, and where shouldn’t we?
In this talk, I'll share my experience from my startup, Elementary POS. What pitfalls did I have to deal with? What should you watch out for? We’ll look at it from the perspective of architecture, Java backend, frontend, database, and infrastructure.
