Piotr Ma艣lankowski - Software Engineer at Allegro, where he builds high-throughput ad-serving systems. His experience ranges from engineering banking payment systems to scaling loyalty programs serving millions of users. Driven by a passion for software architecture, DDD, and distributed systems, he spends his days deep in the JVM ecosystem. Catch him after the talk to chat about DDD, good books, or specialty coffee.
Talk: Asynchronous programming using Kotlin Coroutines
Asynchronous programming offers many benefits, but it also comes with significant challenges: a more complex programming model, a steeper learning curve, and plenty of opportunities to introduce subtle bugs. In this talk, we'll explore Kotlin coroutines - Kotlin's answer to many of the challenges of asynchronous programming. We'll cover the core concepts behind the coroutine programming model, discuss the mechanisms that make it work, and show how coroutines can simplify building distributed systems based on a microservices architecture. We'll also look at common pitfalls and share practical techniques for avoiding them.
