🎙️ “FrFlow - Ownership and responsibility in AI-assisted software engineering” — Szymon Rodziewicz
Coding with agentic AI has massively changed software engineering. By using it, developers can explore the solution space much faster, and build products at much higher velocity. However, the massive volume of generated code and the nature of agentic coding introduce new challenges, especially issues with increasing entropy within software, lack of ownership, and understanding of the built software. FrFlow proposes a way to build a logical, formally proven model of the developed software as a refinement tree. The logical model sits alongside the code that performs the given functions, and acts as its contract: an interface the code conforms to, albeit stricter and more powerful than has been usual for production software. That makes it possible for a human developer to realistically take responsibility and sign off on mission-critical software, even if its parts are developed by agentic AI.
Bio: Szymon is an engineer that is working on System-on-chip interconnects at Arteris. At the same time, he contributes to open source projects, such as the Scala compiler and Cyfra. In the past, he was a member of the Scala compiler team.

🎙️ “Back to the roots – VirtusLab Scala Stack” — Jacek Kunicki
Scala is evolving to be more welcoming than ever. Explore the VirtusLab Scala Stack, an innovative toolkit that combines Scala 3 and Project Loom to champion direct-style programming by making concurrency more intuitive. With libraries like Ox and Tapir, the entry barrier is lowered, inviting new developers to build robust, scalable apps.
Bio: I’m a passionate software engineer living in the JVM land, where I mostly code and teach Scala and functional programming.
I believe that software craftsmanship is technology-agnostic, thus I try not to limit my portfolio to a narrow set of technologies.
When sharing my knowledge, I always keep in mind that a working example is worth a thousand words, so you are very likely to see me in action during a live coding session.
