A Tale of Two Developers - An Introduction to Cloud Development Environments
For this session, we will introduce the concept of a cloud development environment (CDE). We will compare and contrast this concept with traditional development environments and explore how CDEs facilitate superior collaboration, security, scalability, and accessibility from anywhere with an internet connection.

Speaker Bio:

Dave is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in Cloud Native Application Engineering, Full-Stack Web Development, IT Automation, and Zero Trust Security. With a strong foundation in both IT operations and software development, he excels in fostering collaboration between development, quality assurance, and IT teams to drive business value.
Currently serving as a Staff Sales Engineer at Coder, Dave acts as a trusted advisor to clients of all sizes, guiding them through developer experience improvement, cloud transformations, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices. Previously, he held key engineering and consulting roles at VMware, where he contributed to the success of the Tanzu Modern Apps Platform and spearheaded IT automation and cloud-native solutions.
Throughout his career, Dave has led architectural and engineering initiatives across diverse industries, including enterprise, financial services, non-profit, military, and academia. He specializes in designing and implementing highly scalable, automated, and secure cloud solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and OpenStack.

Dave holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Texas State University A continuous learner and technology advocate, he actively shares insights through technical workshops, industry conferences, and community engagements.
