Hello all! Join us here at the Kubernetes and Cloud Native New York meetup where we'll be hearing fom Steve Griffith and Haresh Advani at MThree's headquarters downtown. In this event we're going to be learning from real world experts who've build Kubernetes clusters in production, and have valuable advice and information on how to please your customers and build effective teams.

Talk 1: Kubernetes Proxy Architecture for Microservices

Speaker: Haresh Advani

Talk Summary: In this talk we'll cover how to choose the right proxy architecture for micro-services based application delivery. We'll go over Kubernetes networking 101, and then review Kubernetes proxy architectures - and how to decide which one is right for your business.

Bio: Haresh is an IT expert focused on Cloud and on-prem application security & performance for enterprises. Haresh has 28 years of IT/Networking experience in the NY area - 4 years as the IT Director for WNYC Radio (NYPR), 15 years as CEO of a consulting business in NYC, 5 years owner/chief-trainer at a training school in NYC teaching custom-made Microsoft & Cisco courses, 3 years as a Sr. Solution Architect at Presidio, Bluewater & other partners, and currently 5 years at Citrix as a Lead Networking SE. Haresh holds a B.E.E.E (Electrical/Computer) Engineering degree & many IT certifications from Cisco, Citrix, VMware, CompTIA, and EC-Council. Currently specializing in microservices with Citrix and Kubernetes

Talk 2: AKS Deep Dive

Speaker: Steve Griffith

Talk Summary: With rapid growth in the adoption of Kubernetes the availability of managed cluster providers is also growing. In this session, we will run through a deep dive of Microsoft's Azure Kubernetes Service to help you understand where it came from, how it's implemented, what the Microsoft provided tooling looks like for developers and operators and finally how AKS might help you fast track some critical enterprise cluster management and security requirements.

Bio: Steve Griffith, a Microsoft Principal Technical Specialist in the Cloud Native Global Black Belt team, works with Microsoft customers to architect large scale modern applications on Kubernetes in Azure. Prior to joining the Global Black Belt team Steve worked with large enterprises to enable Azure infrastructure and application migration with deep specialization in C#, application design and network infrastructure. Prior to joining Microsoft Steve spent 13 yrs with Duck Creek Technologies, where served as Director of Cloud Engineering and Director of IT/IS. Steve has extensive experience in the pain of managing multi-tenant monoliths and has used that experience to help developers and infrastructure teams build better solutions. Based out of Brooklyn, Steve spends most of his time enjoying the city with his wife and daughters, playing guitar and knocking out the occasional electronics project.
