About the talks
Alessandro De Maria - Isomorphic Labs
Kapitan, the configuration composition tool. Let's demistify Kapitan, and learn how to combine all your configuration needs under one roof, using helm, python, jsonnet, Jinja or CUE. Whether you need deploying helm charts, keeping secrets, configuring terraform, managing odd systems and creating documentation that just works, Kapitan will glue all together into a simple repeatable workflow, enabling self service and gitops.
Monzo’s Journey in Cost-Optimized Kubernetes Autoscaling
A deep dive into how Monzo autoscales Kubernetes worker nodes to run its 2800+ microservices and how we've optimised for cost. Throughout the day we can scale out the cluster to 3 times the size and run upwards of 30,000 pods so we need our cluster to be very elastic and react quickly. We have diverse workloads with a number of different constraints around availability and cost optimisation. You'll learn about configuring autoscaling at scale to minimize compute costs whilst meeting these constraints.
Dom Goodwin - Monzo
Working within the infrastructure platform squad at Monzo Bank. focusing on our networking, service-mesh and Kubernetes platform.
