Hybrid Kranj/Online: Kubernetes Slovenia Meetup Autumn 2022

It's time for Autumn edition of Kubernetes Slovenia Meetup!

Again we're doing this in hybrid mode with with presenters and participants both live and online.

We're introducing two presentations as per tradition:
First one (joining us live) will be Tomaž Borštnar who will do OpenShift Technical Overview. It's going to be a technical presentation about OpenShift covering the topics as:

• OpenShift and Kubernetes Core Concepts
• OpenShift Architecture
• OpenShift Lifecycle, Installation & Upgrades
• Operations and Infrastructure Deep Dive

There should also be some time for Ask Me Anything questions as well.

Tomaž is a long-time IT professional. Thirty years ago, he was one of the youngest members of the editorial board of the computer magazine Monitor in Slovenia. Later he was also part of some of Slovenia's biggest Internet Service Providers when they were starting - ARNES, Telekom, and Voljatel. He established and ran Over.Net, including Med.Over.Net. He has been doing IT training and consulting for over 25 years and is currently an official trainer for Red Hat, SUSE, Cisco, and EnterpriseDB. He was also essential to successful DevOps (Kubernetes and networking) courses for Cisco - DEVCOR, DEVOPS. These days his usual role is as an IT architect for projects ranging from modernization of the existing solutions to the implementation of the new solutions primarily based on OpenShift - on-premise and in the cloud.

Second presenter will join remotely:
Jure Pečar will do a presentation about HPC in the times of containers.
HPC, the oldest and still most productive form of computing, is adopting
another modern contraption, Containers. We'll take a look at how these
technologies mix and how they enrich each other and create even more
productive and efficient environments going forward.

Jure Pečar is a self-taught IT generalist whose career led him from one
optimization problem to another and landed him in the world of High
Performance Computing. He's currently operating a ~200KW HPC cluster at EMBL in Heidelberg.

We'll meet in 3fs Kranj Office at 5:30pm and the first presentation will be at 6:00pm. The second presentation will start around 6:45pm. After the second presentation we'll mingle over food and drinks.

Meetup will be held in English.

There's limited space for 50 people so please reserve your ticket via this link. The tickets are free but we kindly ask you to release it if you'd later realize you won't be able to come so that people on the waiting list can join instead. There's free parking available.
