Kubernetes at Nuvo - advanced CI/CD and Operators

Details

18:00-18:30 - Gathering, networking, pizza and beer!

18:30-19:15 - Advanced CI\CD for Kubernetes and Helm using Orca - Maor Friedman

In this session we will show how we have improved (and simplified) our CI/CD pipelines using Orca - our internal deployment tool that we recently open sourced.
Orca is a tool that we built to simplify our Kubernetes+Helm deployment story which became a central piece in how we work. We will introduce Orca, and show how it is being used in different cases such as deploying to production, and creating dynamic (ad-hoc) environments.

19:15-20:00 - Operator Frameworks, Which and How? - Hagai Barel

Operators leverage the built-in logic and capabilities of Kubernetes and domain specific knowledge to allow for automating application operations. Backups, repairs, resharding, indexing, all those manual tasks can be automated using the powerful concepts of reconciliation loops and Kubernetes’ primitives.
But how does one get started with developing an Operator? What options are there? Which framework is suitable for my use case?
In this talk we'll briefly review the concept of Operators and how to leverage the Kubernetes API. We’ll then look at some available frameworks for developing operators while considering their benefits and downsides. Lastly, we'll look at a use case and an operator implementation that addresses it.
