Details

The Hockley Heights Loop is near Orangeville and is a great day-long hike. Local side trails connect with the Bruce Trail forming a 20+ km rectangle. It is hilly, includes some sand dune, a ridge walk, meadow, lots of rough forest trail, roadside travel, farmland, two great lookouts, and a few streams. Except for about 5 kms you are always hiking up or down. Some of the path is quite steep and the changes of terrain make this a demanding hike. You do have to work really hard for some of it. If you can walk 10-15 kms in a day and not feel it 2 days later, and you have spent some days hiking on the Bruce Trail then you're probably ready for this. Expect to be on this trail with rests for 6-7 hours. Lots of ankle support and hiking poles recommended. Here's a useful link from the Toronto Hiking Club:
