Bridge Building
Details
Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a good long weekend. I am writing to you about a volunteering opportunity I thought may be of interest.
When I started KW Backcountry Travel I had three goals
To create a community of like minded travelers with which to share the activities we love to do. To provide education and support for the those who want to learn more about backcountry travel. To organize backcountry travelers to support the trails we value so. We have accomplished #1 & #2. I hope next weekend we can start on #3.
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club is building a bridge next weekend. To do this they need man(and lady) power.
Where to meet: http://goo.gl/maps/SyZSF (Use point on map, GPS address may be way off)
Given the short notice on this event (I just found out 30 minutes ago) people should arrange carpools themselves.
I have created one event for Saturday and Sunday, Please RSVP for the day(s) you are coming.
Below are the full details as I received them.
--Tim
P.S. I am going both days leaving from downtown Kitchener area with room for 3 others in my car.
P.S.S. If you know about other opportunities like this (trail building, maintenance, cleanup, etc) please forward them to me,

Well it is time for the big install of bridge. It will be next Saturday/Sunday, 25/26 May (weather permitting, but long range is looking promising). We will probably be starting a 9am each day.
Here is the link for where we are:

The pieces of bridge truss are currently sitting at landowner's property:
13488 second Line Nassagaweya (officially Milton for finding it via GPS, but closer to Rockwood). Most people should be using the trailhead which is a bit north of that driveway and I will post a sign there. Alternatively, people can enter off 1st line at intersection of Arkell Rd. This is a bit easier to find and park, but a bit further to hike to creek.
We are hoping for 10 strong individuals but not sure how many of our club volunteers will be there. Some will have to walk across the creek either in hip waders or be prepared to get wet (i.e. bring 2nd pair of old shoes and a towel). The landowner is helping out with his ATV and trailer first thing Saturday with getting 6 pieces of truss on site. The 3 pieces of each truss will then need re-assembling with 1/2" bolts/nuts. Then, using small cedar logs, lift the 40 ft truss section over creek and onto the newly built stone cribs.
Bring bug repellent, drink and lunch if staying for the day).
