The 30,000 Islands in Georgian Bay have a limited number of public access points for kayakers. Britt on Byng Inlet is one of the more accommodating. From this inlet a number of 'crown land' island chains are waiting to be explored, all within a weekend's paddling distance. Lets pick The Churchills this time around.

Itinerary:

Friday: Leave Kitchener-Waterloo after work and drive five hours to Britt, Ontario. Tent for the night at icecreamontherocks.com

Saturday: Launch kayaks 8:00 am and paddle north to the Churchill Islands 20 odd km away. Tent for the night on a rock of your choosing.

Sunday: Return to Britt by 4:30 pm. Commence 5 hour drive home.

Costs:

$40 shared gas + $10 camping Friday night + $4 kayak launch + $10 shared parking for the weekend = $64 (estimate before tax)

add kayak rental if necessary ($34 x 2 ) = $68

$64 + $68 = $132

Kayak Rentals:
