Killarney

Backpacking the La Cloche Shilohette Trail from Carlyle Lake to Silver Peak. I am looking to reserve the campsites by September 16th and hoping to land our base camp in either sites H45/H46 (Bunnyrabbit Lake) or, for the eager dreamers among us, sites H37/H38. Both of these are long distance commiting hikes, however, that being said last trip we did have some backpackers new to long distance hiking that faired just well.

The parking is located at the Carlyle Lake Access point and an initial group of organizers will head to the George Lake Park Office to organize payment of dues and records of information with our friendly park rangers. The main itinerary would be to head out Friday before noon, take advantage of the cool fall weather we've had up north and make it to the campsites for a well earned nights rest, Day 2 we'll explore the La Cloche Range around Silver Lake/ Silver Peak (and if we make the H37/38 sites we can explore the Hansen Range), lastly Day 3 we do our inevitable backtracking to our cars and society.

Carpooling and gear sharing can all be arranged once this trip is gaining enough momentum.

DISCLAIMER

This is an intermediate level hike requiring backpackers to consistiantly travel over rough, steep, challenging terrian for long distances with fewer breaks than normal. (i.e. - similar in experience to the last Killarney Backpacking trip except in the fall.)
