Itinerary:

Friday, Sep. 25, leave as soon as possible after work for Killbear Provincial Park. Car-camp for the night.

Saturday, pick up local rental kayaks if required. Congregate at Snug Harbor by 9:30 am. Pack kayaks and launch by 10:30. Paddle to one of the Minks or Big McCow Islands via westside Franklin Island. Set up camp.

Sunday, explore, possibly venture to the Limestone Islands for the more ambitious. Return to Snug Harbor by 4:00 pm.

Cost:

Friday camping = $20

Saturday parking = $5

Shared gas = $20

Add kayak rental of $40 per day ($80) if required.

Difficulty:

First time kayakers or backcountry campers welcome. This is a somewhat physically challenging trip requiring a minimum of 16 kilometers paddling each day. Precise kayaking difficulty is hard to quantify as it is determined by wind and waves conditions at the time. The actual end point and route taken may vary accordingly.

Sign up process:

The organizer orchestrates campsites for Friday night. The average cost for campsites, additional parking and firewood is worked out Saturday morning. Bring change in the neighborhood of $20.

Everyone is responsible for having their own boat and means of getting it to Snug Harbor, along with camping gear.

There is no cost for camping Saturday. We camp on 'crown land'.
