Winter Camp Killarney & The Crack
Details
Join A.Y. Jackson, the rest of the Group of Seven, and me, and become captivated by Killarney’s jack pine ridges and quartzite cliffs, which are enhanced by a blanket of snow in the winter.

It's our first trip to Killarney in 5 months....Conditions have been weird this winter, but, I refuse to submit to your evil El Niño. Base camping in the George Lake campground will offset the longer drive up north this weekend, which makes this trip ideal for those new, or newer, to winter camping.
There are endless day travel options at the Park, but on Saturday, I'm looking forward to some fresh snow for a hike to The Crack. Pacing will be moderate and snowshoes will be needed, but icers are strongly recommended, so do bring them if you have them. This event can support multiple groups with different interests, so feel free to experiment this weekend with backpacking, pulking, sail, or advanced trekking. We can enjoy a campfire Saturday night (skulls will be there), then head out Sunday morning for another day hike.

Drive up Friday night or arrive at the George Lake Campground by 9:00am. It is winter camping so you need to be prepared to tent in temperatures of -20 or colder. NO COTTON should be worn.
