The Massasauga PP: Calhoun Lodge and Baker Trail Cleanup
Details
Get a jump on the camping season and contribute to a worthy cause: spring cleanup at The Massasauga Provincial Park!
Response to the Killarney cleanup weekend meetup was so great that we are posting another cleanup for people to participate in on the same weekend.
This year the Friends of The Massasauga cleanup day will focus on Calhoun Lodge and Baker Trail, both near the Pete's Place access point at the south end of the park.
The cleanup itself is held Saturday morning, ending at noon and followed by a BBQ hosted by a local cottager. Tools will be provided. The work will include cleaning up around the lodge (it stopped operating several decades ago) and trail maintenance.
After Saturday at noon, the rest of the weekend is yours to enjoy. Free campsites will be provided. The work site and campsites can be accessed only by water, so please bring a boat if you can. A local cottager may be able to shuttle some of us to the site. Please try to arrive at Pete's Place early enough to paddle to the campsite (about 30 min) before dark.
Children and dogs are welcome on this meetup. There will not be childcare, so you will be responsible for supervising your child at all times. Dogs must be kept under control at all times. Be prepared to leash your dog if asked to.
Please use the comment section to arrange carpooling and sharing of tents and canoes. Record your arrangements in the shared document (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ey1Qh2hdFcjMbhpc00ki0M6nRJmSlzWJd1YAy-yGdpQ/edit#gid=0).
