Kayaking to Big McCoy
Details
How can there be no trips planned for a long weekend? Let's go to back to Big McCoy! This paddling trip will take us onto the open waters of Georgian Bay where the water could be a mere ripple or white capped crashing waves. As such, anyone joining this trip should be an intermediate or above level paddler and must be comfortable being several kilometres away from the closest land, which may take over an hour to get to. Distance to paddle is over 12km each day. Everyone is expected to be self sufficient. We will meet at 9:30-10am at the docks by Dillon Cove Marina after paying for parking and be on the water by 10:15am. If you are not ready at this time then you are still welcome to catch up to us along the way or meet us at the island. From the docks we will paddle out to Big McCoy and find a spot to set up camp. We may take a break on one of the inner islands before making the long crossing. Sunday.. If the waters are favourable we will attempt to paddle out to the limestone islands. This would be a full day trip with nowhere to stop along the way. Monday.. We will pack up and make our way back to the docks.
