Kayak/ Hike To High Dump At The Bruce Peninsula National Park

OK everyone Its time to dust off the camping gear and shake off that cabin fever. Here's the plan an old one but a gold one. Finish work and head to Cyprus lake campground for Friday night. Wake up have breakfast and begin our venture.

Group 1 Hikers: Break camp at Cyprus lake and make our way to Head Of Trails. Then take the White Blaze trail A.K.A. the Bruce Trail to High Dump. We will pass by Stormhaven And take a lunch break at Half Way Dump. The final few km to High Dump will be difficult especially if it is wet out. So watch your footing. When We arrive at the High Dump Side Trail we must descend with care. Then make our way to our tent pads for our well deserved rest. The distance to cover is around 17 km.

Group 2 Kayakers: Break camp at Cyprus lake be on the road no later than 9:30 am. Make our way to Little Cove and unload the boats then pack them hastily. Drive to Little Cove adventures Tobermory 7111 Highway 6
Tobermory, ON, N0H 2R0. There we will park our cars and have them shuttle us back to Little Cove and vice versa on the return home. After the shuttle drops us off at Little Cove get in the kayaks and be on our way. We will stop at the overhang or the grotto for a quick lunch and sight see. Then off to High Dump. Our distance to cover is about 20 km.

I have already booked tent pads 5 through 9. Tent pad 6 is reserved for the monster tarp tent I will provide. Bug net and side covers are also included. 5 to 6 people can fit in this monstrosity with gear. Anyone is welcome but space is limited.

Cost backcountry permits $11.27 per person

Overnight parking at the park $11.70 per vehicle per night

Friday night at Cyprus lake $27 split between 6 people per site. People are welcome to arrive on Saturday morning but be there early or on the dot. Late comers will be left to fend for them selves.

Parking at Little Cove Adventure $25 per car shuttle $20 for pickup and drop off split between the kayakers.

Hikers: This is an Intermediate hike terrain is uneven and can be slick. Slips and falls are quite possible.

Kayakers: This is an intermediate to advanced trip. Georgian Bay weather is still hit or miss at this time of year. Be ready to join the hikers. I will also be enforcing the mandatory use of dry suits or equivalent wet suits as the water is still quite cold.
