Intro To Kayak Paddling Skills and Campfire
Details
Kick off your best paddling season with KWBT’s celebrated kayak paddling skills day. Gain the skills and confidence you need to start kayaking in Georgian Bay with us.
Join me and a select group of paddlers for a complete day of kayaking lessons at a quiet country estate with a large private lake about 30 minutes from Kitchener, just north of Paris. After a full day on the water, finish your day with a campfire under the stars and overnight camping!

Yes, you'll get wet during this skills event, and it's part of busting any myths you have about sea kayaking. The basic schedule includes approximately 6 hours of expert, peer approved instruction.
By attending this workshop, you can expect to learn how to:
• Lift, carry and car top a kayak
• 5 ways to enter a kayak
• How to gear up for a successful paddle
• Basic Wilderness Navigation
• Improve Your Stroke - a large portion of time is dedicated to teaching the correct paddling techniques for forward & backward strokes, sweeps, draws, and high and low bracing for balance
• Safety & Rescue Skills – You’ll learn and practice safety skills to increase your comfort and confidence on the water. Skills include the wet exit, retrieving a swamped kayak, assisted rescue (T-Rescue) and paddle safety signals
• We’ll also answer the FAQ’s of novice paddlers and those new to our Meetup group. We’ll help you look like a pro and maximize success & enjoyment on your next KWBT trip
