It's time for another trip to one of KWBT's favourite destinations, Phillip Edward Island. Northern Georgian Bay and the Killarney coast is a land of rugged wilderness and solitude. It is a magical area with Group of Seven vistas in every direction.

Trip Plan:

Fri Aug 4

Make your way to Killarney Outfitters after work. Camp in the "Back 40" for the night.

Sat Aug 5

Pick up rental gear from Killarney Outfitters. Obtain parking permits from the park office if necessary. Have breakfast and head to the Chikanishing Creek access point. Adjust your kayak and pack your gear. Leave lots of time to shuttle cars and pack kayaks. The group will set out together and paddle to basecamp via Northeast Hawk Island. Setup camp for the weekend.

Sun Aug 6

Relax around camp, practice kayak skills or head out and explore. We usually do a daytrip to Deer Island via Crume Island.

Mon Aug 7

Break camp and return to the Chik access point. Return rental gear and drive home.

The group camps on crown land from Saturday to Monday. There are no camping fees to camp on crown land. Parking at the Chikanishing Creek access is $14/day/vehicle.
