Thanksgiving in Killarney Park
Details
I have a site on Johnnie Lake in Killarney Park for the Thanksgiving Long Weekend.
Please join me for a relaxing weekend of paddling and an optional hike to Silver Peak to enjoy the fall colours. There are no portages to the site on Johnnie Lake so the trip is well suited to kayaks as well as canoes (I will be kayaking).
Meet Saturday morning at 10:00am at the George Lake Park Office to buy permits. We won't do the usual shuttle from Killarney Outfitters due to the distance - this also allows you to leave early on Monday to make it home for Thanksgiving Dinner if you so desire.
Sunday we will do a hike to Silver Peak if people are so inclined. There is 1 portage so bring hiking boots, but no need to carry boats or gear.
Monday will be back to the cars and then home.
If you would like to head up Friday night, you can stay at the Back 40 at Killarney Outfitters ($5 donation suggested).
If you would like to rent a canoe or kayak, Killarney Outfitters (1.705.287.2828) will deliver it to the Johnnie Lake access for a nominal fee. Please support Killarney Outfitters if you rent as they are so supportive of KWBC.
You will be responsible for providing all your own food and gear.
Your costs will be about $25pp for your backcountry camping fees, plus the $5 suggested donation at Killarney Outfitters if you stay there Friday night. Don't forget to offer your driver gas money if you get a ride.
