The Civic Long weekend is fast approaching and we're in need of a kayak trip. Join me as I set out for a weekend of epic kayaking on Georgian Bay with beautiful scenic vistas, spectacular Georgian Bay sunsets that few get to see.

The Plan
Head north to Killbear Provincial Park Friday after for meet and greet as well as get a good nights sleep.

Saturday:
We will rendezvous Saturday morning at Gillys Snug Harbour for 9am. Unload and pack our kayaks, purchase vehicle parking passes. Ready to launch no later then 10am. We will then set out for the Mink islands with Elm Tree island being our preferred base camp. Setup camp and have ourselves a late lunch. Afterwards we can explore the other surrounding Mink islands, or simply chill and relax, swim, do whatever. I will likely hold a brief skills session focussed on rescues and rolls late afternoon for those interested.

Sunday:
We will start our day with a hearty breakfast, pack our lunches and jump into our kayaks, we're heading out to the Limestone islands and hopefully Green island as well. Apparently the steamship Seattle wreckage is only 300meters off the coast of green island which sank in 1903. Would be nice to see, if we can find it. Returning back to base camp in time for dinner. This may be a long day and of course is optional if you want to attend this day excursion. This is all dependant on the weather, wind and waves as to wether or not we make it to Limestone and Green islands.

Monday:
We will have ourselves a relaxed morning, packing up our gear and preparing to head back to Snug Harbour. Our route back will first take us to the north end of Franklin island, where we will kayak our way down franklins coast, stopping somewhere for a lunch break. We will then continue on our way to Snug Harbour and head for home.

Experience level for this trip is INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED.
You are totally responsible to your own safety and wellbeing on this trip at all times.

It is approximately 14kms to our base camp on Elm Tree island. If the weather cooperates we can expect to do 45km+, taking in the Limestones and Green islands. We will have a few longer open water crossings. It is the Bay, so we may have some wind and waves. As with all trips in this area, Franklin island is the default destination should the weather be too risky to make the crossing To the Minks.

I have a campsite reserved at Killbear Provincial Park for Friday night that can accommodate up to 3 tents or 6 people. Message me if you want in on the site. Site fees will be split equally among us.

Anyone needing to rent kayaks can do so at White Squall 705-342-5324.
Snug Harbour Marina parking fees apply, $8 a day, or $24 for the 3 day long weekend. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions or concerns.
