Hiking the Lake Superior Provincial Park Coastal Trail
Hosted by The KW Backcountry Travel Meetup
Details
I’m saying that Lake Superior Provincial Park will be open in August and we can hike the Coastal Trail. This is a bucket list trip - 65 km of wilderness hiking and camping. The trail follows the shoreline of Lake Superior with stream crossings, cliff-climbing, cobble beaches, and some serious scrambling - the trail is rated as ‘difficult’. Some hikers do this trip in 4 or 5 days - me, I’ve booked us for 9 days and 8 nights - I figure if I’m driving this far for a hike, I’m going to spend some time and enjoy the scenery.
We drive up on Saturday, Aug 7, and return home Sunday the 15th. I’m thinking six hikers would be a good number for this trip. Trip details and an organizing spreadsheet will be sent later by email. No pets on this trip, thanks.
The cost for camping and parking will be $100 each, plus gas and food. Your RSVP puts you on the Waitlist. I will contact you to discuss experience levels and related info, then I change your RSVP to ‘Going’. If something comes up and you can’t attend, I'll arrange for a replacement. This Meetup is not ‘first come, first served’ - it requires previous backcountry hiking experience.
Your RSVP indicates your agreement with the terms of the Co-Participant Understanding at https://www.meetup.com/KW-Backcountry/messages/boards/thread/52807358
There's always someone to lend a hand on KWBT Meetups, but you are responsible for your own transportation, food, gear, and personal safety. You can message me with any questions through this Meetup app.
