Franklin Island Sea Kayaking
Hosted by The KW Backcountry Travel Meetup
Details
The trip is full.
We’re going sea kayaking, and crown land camping on Franklin Island in the beautiful waters of Georgian Bay. The difficulty level of this trip varies with the wind and weather - if the weather cooperates, the trip is suitable for any paddler, and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we modify the plan. This being a KWBT Meetup trip, the maximum number of paddlers is twelve. If you’re a kayaking newbie, we can provide some kayak safety training during the trip.
We drive up Friday and camp that night in a campground. Saturday morning we pack up and drive to our launch point. We’ll paddle out to Franklin Island, set up camp, maybe do some kayak drills, and hope for a beautiful Georgian Bay sunset. Sunday morning we pack up and return to our vehicles sometime in the mid to late afternoon.
Trip details and an organizing spreadsheet will be sent later by email. No pets on this trip, thanks. Camping and parking expenses will total around $30 each. Your RSVP puts you on the Waitlist. I will contact you to discuss your experience level. I’ll ensure an appropriate mix of experienced and inexperienced sea kayakers.
Your RSVP indicates your agreement with the terms of the Co-Participant Understanding. There's always someone to lend a hand on KWBT Meetup trips, but you are responsible for your own transportation, food, gear, personal safety and COVID risk. You can DM me with any questions through this Meetup app.
