Introduction to backpacking - Learn what to pack

Details

Are you interested in what it takes to live comfortably in the woods for more than a day this is for you. I have hiked thousands of miles in all seasons and I will share with you what I have learned so you can pack well for your next adventure. This includes discussions on

  1. Clothing
  2. Shelter
  3. Sleeping gear
  4. Water Treatment
  5. Cooking equipment
  6. Other misc small items

This equipment is the foundation for almost all multi-day outdoor trips be it canoeing, backpacking, or cycle touring. The content will focus on "3-season" packing in Ontario.

The weekend of July 5th there is a gentle backpacking trip posted. That trip covers the skills needed to put the equipment discussed to good use. You are invited to attend the class even if you do not intend on coming on a trip but please don't sing up for the trip unless you are coming to the class.

Feel free to bring your own equipment to ask questions about it.

This class will last about 2-3 hours in the Barley Works "Board room" upstairs. Please support Huether, who offers this space for us to meet for free by purchasing a drink or even diner while at the class.
