Another classic Bruce Trail weekend hike through the trail's most scenic section.

Saturday, Nov. 19, leave Waterloo at 6 am with at least two cars. The exact point of departure will depend on who signs up. By default it is a central Tim Hortons. If you need a ride door to door the 'organizer' normally matches rides required with dirvers volunteered the Wednesday before the event.

Drive three hours on hwy 6 towards Tobermory, Ontario. Leave one car at northern end of the park. Proceed to southern end of the park, Crane Lake access point. By 10 am, start hiking north along the Bruce Trail, past High Point campsite, to Storm Haven campsite for the night.

Sunday, continue hiking past the 'Grotto' and other geologic highlights to the northern end of the park. Shuttle back to the southern car. Return home. Estimated time of arrival in Kitchener-Waterloo? 8 pm at the earliest.

Cost = backcountry camping permit per individual, per one night ( $9.80) + shared car parking per day per car (2 x $11.75 / participants ) + shared gas money. With four participants, the cost = $9.80 + $11.75 + $25 = $46.45 per person

Difficulty = 15 km per day, with overnight pack, over challenging terrain.

Minor details 1) We did this trip last year at this time. It got cool at night, borderline freezing 2) No fires allowed at interior sites 3) the campsites are platforms resembling patios, bring extra rope if concerned about tents leviating in the dark of the night 4) For additional expense, one can reseve a site (a platform) in advance. However, this time of year with low demand, standard procedure is to fill out a self-administered form upon arrival and deposite money in the respective drop box.
