Hike and Bike Tour in Lake Placid, NY

Is anyone is interested in a doing a hike up Whiteface mountain (3-4 hr. climb to the 4867' summit) and then taking the ski lift down and a road bike tour around Lake Placid New York? It's a great scenic place for outdoor activities. You can watch the outdoor ski jumping events and mountain bikers before Labour Day. There are some nice camp grounds close to Lake Placid with full facilities and next to Whiteface mountain also. The down side is that the drive is about 8 hrs. each way.
