POSTPONED: MUSIC IN THE ORCHARD: GIL SCOTT-HERON BLUESOLOGY

Details

Indefinitely postponed! will re-post once a new date is set.

Tribute to Gil Scott-Heron in private park-like setting, featuring Gil's daughter Gia Scott-Heron. I have attended this twice in LA and highly recommend it.

Gil Scott-Heron as an American jazz poet, singer, musician, and author known for his work as a spoken-word performer in the 1970s and 1980s. His collaborative efforts fused jazz, blues, and soul with lyrics relative to social and political issues of the time, delivered in both rapping and melismatic vocal styles. He referred to himself as a "bluesologist", his own term for "a scientist who is concerned with the origin of the blues". His poem "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised", delivered over a jazz-soul beat, is considered a major influence on hip hop music.

Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology Created by Tuesday Conner Is a one of a kind theatrical reinterpretation of the late great poet and songwriter Gil Scott-Heron - the man Melody Maker called "the most dangerous musician alive" and many dubbed the forefather of rap music because his lyrics reflect the turbulence and uncertainty of our times, with a satirical edge told in the tradition of oral poetry and storytelling.
Live on stage sharing stories, memories, poems and songs Gil Scott-Heron’s daughter Gia Scott-Heron and a band of spoken word artists from Leimert Park are Spittin’ fire and blazin’ stages on a worldwide tour.
