What we’re about
Hi! We're furniture artists operating La Vie Nouveau Décor Shoppe where we upcycle quality vintage furniture and take great pride and care in working on commissions and selecting the best furniture items to refinish for our customers. We love the creative process so much we're seeking to share these skills and experiences with people who are missing creative expression in life! Art is therapy and bringing others together for art is the best kind of community. Please join us with an open mind and open heart and zero judgement for how artistic you feel you may or may not be. We're excited to share our whimsical eclectic techniques and art supplies which will allow your creativity to thrive. All are welcome at this table. We hope to see you there!
Art supplies and project materials will be provided with the workshop fee, as will snacks & beverages. Please reach out with any dietary needs so we can accommodate you. Most projects will be small-medium furniture refabulizing opportunities, involving decoupage, transfers, stenciling, moulds, gilding wax, and blending with chalk paint to help you create unique mini masterpieces which you get to take home to enjoy. No need to worry about restoration or carpentry skills, as we won't be using power tools or any chemicals that would require a respirator- these workshops are for the bling! We strive to create user friendly projects and environments which are ADA accessible, so please reach out if you have preferences or additional accommodations we should be aware of.
We're so excited to see you in art class!!!

Join us on Saturday, May 17th from 1 PM - 4 PM as we create upcycled bread boxes to add a splash of color and style to your kitchen space! All experience levels are welcome to participate.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will design, paint, transfers, stencils, and decoupage your own take-home bread box using upcycling skills, which you can then apply to any piece of furniture, using resin paint, decoupage, stenciling, and finishing off with gilding wax. A new, unused bread box will be provided with your workshop fee (See box details and dimensions below), and a thoughtfully curated assortment of multiple decoupage papers and stencils to choose from for application inside and outside of the bread box. We'll be using Rethunk Junk by Laura® Furniture and Cabinet paint, which is an all-in-one acrylic paint that's infused with resin for added durability on your furniture makeover. No priming, sanding, or waxing required. Rethunk Junk by Laura® provides a buttery-smooth, satin finish. Water-based. Low VOC. This paint is safe to use on the inside of the bread boxes and be in contact w/bread, as it dries to a hard finish (unlike chalk paint which needs wax to seal in the color and would not be ideal for food contact). Three shades of furniture wax will be available to add depth and dimension: dark/antique, black, and white. Gold and silver gilding wax will be available to choose from to add extra brilliance and pizzaz. Aftercare: Learn the importance of letting your gilding wax finish cure, and how to care for and maintain your finished piece once you get it home.
This class is all about artistic free expression. There is no wrong way to complete this fun art project. The skills learned in this workshop can be applied to any piece of furniture you want to give new life through upcycling. We love furniture art and are excited to share these skills and experiences with you!
