Full circle… We’re headed back to Upper Canyonback Trail finally! It’s been just over a year since the fires and what better way to give gratitude to the place of our very first meet up in 2023 (trying to revive this group). Details below:

📆Date: Sunday, January 11, 2026

🕰️Time: 8:30-10:30AM —> we’ll give a 5 minute grace period and so we will be departing at 8:35AM.

📍Location: Westridge-Canyonback Upper Trailhead, 17024 Mulholland Dr, Encino, CA 91436

🅿️ Parking: Parking on the dirt/paved road on Mulholland Dr (leading into the trail) is free but can be difficult during peak hiking hours. It can be a bit rocky and there’s large potholes. In desperate times people will park on the other side of Mulholland Dr. Pictures on where to park included.

🧭 Description: This is one of the very few, if only, actual off leash hiking spots in LA. Ultimately, “dogs must under owners immediate control.” Exact rules related are included in the photo carousel.

We will be hiking the trail on the left off the parking road (the fireroad on the left with the bright yellow gate). This is a quick out and back trail, so feel free to leave when you’re ready. The last time we hosted this event, we were back at our cars around 10AMish. The turf is dirt so not a tough terrain/not rocky; and not too much in terms of incline difficulty (think rolling hills). Shade is limited so please bring your hats, sunblock, etc + plenty of water/snacks for you and your pup.
