Hi everyone,
As a woman in LA, I've always kept a desire to support my fellow female friends and acquaintances who love food and love to serve food. I got this idea last year of going to the restaurants in LA that are owned or operated by women chefs and restaurateurs to show my support. There are already a few meetups in planning actually with some female chefs and restaurants, but this recent tragic news prompted me to start the new series (again! lol ) with the very special place in Berkeley. Twice in their long history, Chez Panisse got ablaze again...

I've never had a chance to meet her, but Alice Waters has been always my icon and inspiration.... One of my sons went to Cal and they treated me a nice birthday dinner there - such a fond and warm memory of excellent food and service...
I want to go back to dine again and show my small support sometime. They say it plans to reopen in June. But you never know, so the date is still tentative. I'll check closely and keep you updated. I might fly or even take a train (have done a dozen times on Amtrak, which I enjoy the ride and scenery). Once in Berkeley, I also want to go back to Berkeley Bowl, another favorite, and many other places.
If I will take a train, I might stop by this unique vegan place again in Jack London Square in Oakland as well. The food was so good I'm already drooling lol

I liked to hear Alice talk about even extending the dining room!
Frailty, thy name is NOT woman.)
Cheers,
Sally
