STORYWORK: THE PRINTS OF MARIE WATT at UMFA

Marie Watt is a member of the Turtle Clan of the Seneca Nation of Indians whose work draws on images and ideas from Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) protofeminism and Indigenous teachings. Her practice is interdisciplinary, incorporating printmaking, painting, textiles, and sculpture. Watt conducts both solo and collaborative projects, but in all of them she explores how history, community, and storytelling intersect.

Let’s visit the UMFA’s special exhibition gallery for this print retrospective that is accompanied by her monumental blanket stacks, hanging textiles, and sculptures.

There are no RSVP restrictions but please keep them current so that we know who all to look for. Museum admission is $19.95. It is ~1/2mile from the stadium Trax station. There is a parking lot across the street but I am not sure of their fee.
