Canvassing and talking to each other 1:1 is a proven strategy to win elections. In Ballwin & Winchester, Democrats lost the race for State Rep in 2024 by only 75 votes. We can't let that happen again, and door-to-door canvassing is the evidence-based way we will win.

Mary Ann Perkins is the Democratic Party's candidate to represent Ballwin/Winchester in our State Legislature - and she is with Ladies Leaning Left! When the Dobbs decision broke faith with the public (especially women) Mary Ann began organizing in her own neighborhood, knocking on doors and gathering signatures to overturn the Missouri Legislature's ban on abortion in our state. And it WORKED! In 2024, Ballwin and Winchester voted 62% to 38% - a *landslide* victory - to put the right to abortion in our State constitution. But our representative in the Jeff City thinks he knows better than we do, voting for whatever he wants regardless of our values. There's a word for what he is - but "representative" isn't it. He doesn't listen, but he still thinks he'll be re-elected. Unless we stop him, he could be. So how do we stop him?

We meet at the Wolf Cafe for a 30 min intro to canvassing and orientation to the app (Minivan touch) that guides each volunteer along their route and logs their results. We'll pair up (experienced canvassers will go with beginners) and canvass for 2 hours, then meet back at the Wolf at 12:30 for lunch and debrief conversation. We'll share anything of interest from the doors we knocked. We should be finished up by 1:30-2pm.

Notes
1. Anyone can canvass with us, even if you live in another district.
2. It's easy to get the hang of the app and the objectives. Just bring a water bottle and your fully charged phone. Dress for the weather!
3. We will target homes that are very likely to have progressive values like Mary Ann's (supporting public education, rejecting the abortion ban, rejecting tax policy that burdens the poorest among us).
4. Progressives have a strong majority in District 100 - in 2024 we overturned the abortion ban and we also approved paid sick leave and the $15 minimum wage by an impressive 63% to 37%. But most people living here do not know that. Canvassing is a powerful way to let folks know that the majority of their neighbors have progressive values, and their vote matters now more than ever.
