What we’re about
The focus of ‘Ladies Who Adore Vintage’ is to explore the most interesting “vintage” venues in greater LA— offering both education as well as socialization. A great opportunity to make like-minded friends who have a true love and appreciation for “vintage”. Venues are thoroughly researched and fully described with historical facts. Vintage photos when available are always included of these iconic venues. If you adore vintage you will thoroughly enjoy all the ‘vintage’ events this Meetup group offers! Ladies Who Adore Vintage is best described as a unique “specialty” Meetup Group.
This group is for ladies who enjoy High Teas and Brunch.
High tea should be called afternoon tea, technically and historically speaking. Traditionally, high tea was a working-class meal served on a high table at the end of the workday, shortly after 5 p.m., and included heavy foods. Outside of the U.K., many people refer to afternoon tea as "high tea." So, let's stick with the incorrect phrase "high tea" for now, so that most people here in the U.S. will understand.
🧇 Brunch lovers will see events take place on weekend mornings.
👩🏼🦰 Those who want to host an event or have ideas, feel free to let the Organizer know.
If your plans change, please cancel and RSVP as "Not Going" at least 24 hours (1 day) before the event. Failure to do so will result in a no-show. 3 no-shows will ban you from the group 🚫. If there is an emergency, please contact me.
Yes, it actually costs the Organizers money to keep this group open. Meetup is technically NOT free for the group Organizers 😐.
“Vintage Dollz” have a true appreciation for all-things-vintage! This includes: historical architecture, historical restaurants and bar venues, High Tea, classic films at historical theatres, classic car shows, vintage shopping for clothing, accessories, vintage collectibles and decor (flea markets). Other vintage-inspired events include historical tours and vintage dance & music venues. We periodically have monthly event series, such as: exploring vintage diners, delis, Tiki bars, iconic dive-bars and other specific theme events.
Please feel free to drop us a message if you have any vintage-inspired event suggestions. We would love to hear from you!
Make new friends and become part of our fun-spirited community of “Vintage Dollz” who adore vintage!
Welcome to the group!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Cheri Pann started life in the projects in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles.
At an early age she began drawing and coloring everything within her reach, but her mom, knowing only about the performing arts, proceeded to send her to piano, dancing, and acting lessons. In her late teens, Cheri went to see a Vincent Van Gogh exhibit, stood in front of his paintings, said “I’m an artist!”, and has never looked back. For the next few years she went to UCLA where she studied printmaking, then subsequently apprenticed herself to the printmaker Don LaViere Turner, and took additional printmaking classes at USC. Later, at Cal State L.A., she immersed herself in drawing and ceramics, eventually earning a Masters in Fine Art.
From the late sixties to the mid-nineties, Cheri had more than 20 solo exhibitions in California and Japan, as well as having been in more than 50 group shows. For over two decades, a portion of each year was spent traveling throughout Europe and Asia, living in Japan, France, and Hawaii for periods of four to fifteen months at a time.
Since the mid-nineties she has exhibited exclusively in her live/work studio in Venice, CA., where she is continuously at work painting in oil, building mural-sized constructions which are political commentaries, and creating vessels, functional items, & tiles out of stoneware clay. Her tiles have found their way into the mosaics decorating her home like a Gaudi or the Watts Towers, as well as numerous private commissions, all jointly executed with her husband, Gonzalo Duran.
Born in Mexico, raised in East L.A., the son of a shoemaker, Gonzalo Duran came to the U.S. at an early age. He attended Otis Art Institute and Chouinard Art School. The world of Gonzalo is a fanciful place, peopled with characters, half-fable, half-fact. He has been called the Marc Chagall of the North and Central Americas. His brilliant, sometimes startling palette, complements his unbounded imagination.
Duran’s career has been followed and his works have been acquired by many collectors throughout the U. S. and Mexico.PARKING
